Axatana is one of eight primary weapons in Mortal Shell 2, and every Shell can carry it. Its weapon ability is Morph Attack, paid for in Resolve. It takes twenty Tarstones. How you get it: Location Map purchased from Merrick.

Our take
The only primary that changes shape mid-combo, which is what Morph Attack is for: twin blades for speed, axe for weight, chosen inside a single string. You buy its location map from Merrick rather than stumbling onto it, so it is a deliberate detour, not a pickup.
Tarforge upgrades
Franz takes it to +16 at the Tarforge in Marrow Keep. Damage is a percentage of the weapon's base, ending at 180%.
