How Seals work

The Seal occupies one slot and decides how you answer an incoming attack. It is the single largest change you can make to how the game feels, and swapping it is closer to changing class than changing gear.

All three defensive Seals feed the same engine: land the defence at the right moment and you deal Break damage, and enough Break damage opens the enemy to a Riposte. What differs is the timing window and what it costs you to miss it.

Guard is the forgiving oneThe Untarnished Seal blocks with your weapon and spends Guard Energy to do it. Mistimed, you lose resource; run it dry and you are stunned.
Parry is the greedy oneThe Infinite Seal trades the safety net for a better break. It rewards knowing a moveset and punishes learning one.
Harden is the series' signatureVatra's Seal turns you to stone to eat one hit. It is the only defence that works when you have already committed to an attack.
