Which Class Should You Pick in Mistfall Hunter
The first thing worth knowing about Mistfall Hunter's classes is how little separates them on paper. Pull the base attributes for all six and five of the six numbers are identical: 100 attack, 50 defence, 618 maximum health, 100 stamina, 10 stamina regeneration.
One stat differs, and only one. Critical increase runs from 25% on the Blackarrow to 40% on the Sorcerer, with the other four sitting at 35%. That is the entire numerical difference between picking a Mercenary and picking a Withered Knight.
So the choice is not about stats. It is about the weapon branch you commit to, because skills in this game come from the weapon you carry rather than the class you rolled. Pick the branch whose kit you want to play, and the class follows.
The base stats are the same — with one exception
Every class starts a run with the same body. What follows is the full base attribute table, and the only column worth reading twice is the last one.
| Class | Attack | Defence | Health | Critical increase |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sorcerer | 100 | 50 | 618 | 40% |
| Mercenary | 100 | 50 | 618 | 35% |
| Shadowstrix | 100 | 50 | 618 | 35% |
| Seer | 100 | 50 | 618 | 35% |
| Withered Knight | 100 | 50 | 618 | 35% |
| Blackarrow | 100 | 50 | 618 | 25% |
The branch is the real choice
Five classes carry two weapon branches and play as two different characters depending on which one you bring. The Sorcerer carries one, but its skill pool is wide enough to split the same way.
| Class | Branches | Skills in the pool |
|---|---|---|
| Seer | Catalyst · Mace | 25 |
| Sorcerer | Staff | 24 |
| Blackarrow | Bow · Javelin | 16 |
| Withered Knight | Greatsword · Polearm and Shield | 14 |
| Mercenary | Hammer · Sword and Shield | 13 |
| Shadowstrix | Dagger · Dual Blades | 12 |
A larger pool is not a better class. It means more of your build comes from which skills you slot and less from which branch you carried in — the Seer and the Sorcerer are configured at the skill bar, the Mercenary and the Shadowstrix at the weapon rack.
Picking one
Choose by the thing you want to be doing in a fight, not by a ranking. These are the honest distinctions the data supports.
- You want to not die while you learnMercenary. The Sword and Shield branch is the only opening kit built around blocking, and Stonebreaker Slash covers the block window while still doing damage. Its Hammer branch is the opposite trade and can wait.
- You want to play with other people and matterSeer, Catalyst branch. It is the only kit in the game that heals and shields other players — no other class has an ally-targeted heal at all. Its Mace branch drops that entirely for damage.
- You want the highest ceiling and will pay for itSorcerer. The highest base critical increase in the game and the second-widest skill pool, against the game's hardest constraint: nearly every spell asks you to stand still and chant first.
- You want to fight at range and aimBlackarrow, Bow branch. Charging the bow costs no energy, so its damage is nearly free — paid for with the lowest base critical increase in the game and nothing at all in melee.
- You want to pick a target and delete itShadowstrix, Dagger branch. Its talents pay almost entirely for the first hit out of stealth, and one resets stealth outright on a kill. If you cannot get behind someone it has no second plan.
- You want to hold the front and swing backWithered Knight. The only class with an affix written for it alone — Burst raises its Wither execution damage and does nothing for anyone else. Its Polearm branch is the only melee kit with a revive talent.
